I lost my darling, my Chocolate Point Siamese, Marrakech, to the same debilitating asthma that Samsara, her Seal Point Siamese half-sister fought.  And, it’s hard to believe that Colette, the Rag Doll mix I rescued had all of the health problems I listed. On April 19, 2014 Colette lost her final battle with cancer, and, on November 1, 2014 Samsara lost her fight against kidney disease.

BEHIND THE LENS

"ABOUT  US…”  When I say ‘us’, I refer to myself and my feline crew members who, over the years, have taught me everything I know, or so they’d like to think.  They haven’t taught me ‘everything’, but they have taught me an awful lot: patience and compassion and how to be a good pet parent and photographer.  I’ve always been crazy about animals, but earlier allergies only allowed me the blessings of sharing my life with these amazing companions for the past 25 years.

Among those blessings are the love, and the stories and photos I have for each precious pet.   I treasure the kitten pictures, and I laugh every time I see that shot of kitty Misha, perched on top of the ladder, getting ready to ‘help’ paint my apartment.  (I’m sorry I wasn’t around to get the photo of family doggy Heidi, mooching her umpteenth French fry.)  Or the one with….  The stories go on and on.

Over the past years, I’ve been an active animal welfare advocate and member of the Catster.com community and have become well-versed in pet safety and healthcare issues, helping my own fur babies fight their battles against Feline Asthma, Breast Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disorder, and Chronic Renal (Kidney) Failure.

While we’d like to think our pets will be with us forever, the truth is it just isn’t possible.  But that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate all the wonderful years we spend together.  Photos that capture who these beautiful, funny creatures are will keep them with us ‘FurrEver’.   Their faces are the faces that will always make us go “Awwwwww!”

I shoot all photos ‘on location’: in your home, back yard, park or other outside location.  At your request, I will do themed photos (with or without minimal ‘stuff’ on the pet).

You probably noticed the extra page I set up:  Animal Support Organizations.  The last years taught me how important our animal advocacy and support networks are.  I’ve chosen to feature four of my favorites hoping that, (even if you never choose me for the honor of photographing your pet), you will make a donation to one of these groups.  I can’t imagine money better spent.
